Electronics stores: can an AI agent confirm compatibility, warranty and the exact model?

In electronics, shoppers ask agents for a specific model or for something that works with what they already own. The agent must identify the exact model, confirm compatibility and quote warranty, price and stock.

Requests a shopper might give an agent

  • “A USB-C charger that works with a 2023 MacBook Air, at least 65 W, under ₺1,200.”
  • “Noise-cancelling headphones with a two-year warranty, in stock for delivery this week.”
  • “The cheapest store selling this exact phone model with an official distributor warranty.”

Examples written by us to show the kind of constraints shoppers set. They are not measured question frequencies.

The questions an agent needs your product page to answer

The free test reads one of your product pages and checks whether it answers the questions expected for that type of product: first in the structured data, then in the visible page text (a rule-based dictionary in Turkish and English, no AI). The result appears as the “Product question coverage” line, which doesn’t affect the score.

Where the test looks for each answer

  • size / dimensions: additionalProperty named size/dimension, or size, width, height, depth; in text: a size chart, “dimensions:”, measurements like 40 × 60 cm or 50 ml.
  • compatibility: isAccessoryOrSparePartFor, isConsumableFor or isRelatedTo; in text: “compatible with”, “works with”, compatible models.
  • warranty: warranty in the product or offer; in text: “2-year warranty”, warranty period, manufacturer’s warranty.
  • returns: hasMerchantReturnPolicy in the product or offer data; in text: “14-day free returns”, return period.
  • delivery time: shippingDetails with handling and transit time; in text: estimated delivery, ships within N days, same-day dispatch.
  • stock / variants: availability in the offer, or variants (hasVariant); in text: in stock, out of stock, only N left.

The checks that matter most in this category

All 27 checks run on every store and the weights are the same for everyone; these are the ones most often decisive in this category, and why. Each name opens the check’s own page.

Weight
Product identity (GTIN/MPN, brand, SKU)
GTIN and MPN are how an agent knows two listings are the same model.
5
Price consistency critical blocker
Electronics prices change often; the data and the page must agree (a critical check).
6
Stock consistency
Stock in the data must match the page, or the agent may recommend something unavailable.
3
Price, currency, availability and URL
Price, currency, availability and URL for the exact model.
6
Machine-readable shipping information
Machine-readable delivery times and costs let the agent answer “by Friday?”.
4
Reviews and rating
Ratings and review counts are a common shortlist filter.

Simulator scenarios that fit

The agent simulator sends AI agents through your store in a real browser. They stop at checkout: they never order, sign in or type personal data.

Free simulator

  • Conditional search: A spec and a budget in one request, the typical electronics search.
  • Policy reading (return period, shipping cost): Reads the return period and shipping cost before adding to cart.

Paid project panel (one extra scenario each month, in rotation)

  • Price change in the cart: Checks whether the cart price matches the product page; the agent should stop if it doesn’t.
  • Sorting (most reviewed, best rated): Sorts by most reviewed or best rated, then picks a top result.
  • Filter and variant: Filters by storage, colour or price and picks an in-stock variant.

What we don’t claim

  • Compatibility is detected only from structured data or explicit phrases; we don’t verify that the claim is technically correct.
  • Warranty registration, distributor status or import status are not checked.
  • We don’t publish averages for this category: no figure without our own sample size and date.
  • The question check is a dictionary signal on one product page, not a verdict: a phrase it finds may not fully answer the question, which is why the result shows the excerpt.
  • Nobody can guarantee that an AI assistant recommends your products; we measure whether agents can read and use your store.

Questions

How do we state compatibility for agents?

In the product data use isAccessoryOrSparePartFor or isRelatedTo with the compatible products, and write “compatible with …” with model names in the page text.

Is GTIN required?

Not by us, but without a GTIN or MPN an agent has a much harder time matching your listing to the model the shopper named. The product identity check shows what is missing.
